A Bachelor degree pegged at least at Level 6 on the Malta Qualifications Framework, in an area of study deemed suitable by the Board and obtained with at least Third Class Honours or Category III.

The Faculty Admissions Committee may, after thorough examination of documents submitted in support of the qualifications presented, and following an interview, recommend the admission of applicants applying for admission in terms of the University’s Policy for the Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL) who are in possession of other academic or professional qualifications and documented experience if these are deemed to be comparable to the qualifications referred to in the above paragraph. The admission of such applicants may be made subject to those conditions that may be imposed to address any lacunae in the applicants’ academic preparation.

This programme of study has been designed in collaboration with the MFSA and will include the involvement of lecturers from the MFSA throughout the duration of the programme.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance - P. G. Dip. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Ensure that financial institutions comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess compliance levels.
  • Analyse financial impacts of regulatory changes on companies.
  • Assist in the development of financial products and services in compliance with regulations.

As a successful graduate from this postgraduate course, you will have gained first-hand exposure to the sector’s most sought-after roles through roleplay, simulations, visits to the industry and attachments, thus enhancing your employability prospects through a European recognised certification. You will be well-positioned to contribute to the effective functioning and compliance of financial institutions in a complex and ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

You may also choose to exit the Postgraduate Certificate after successfully completing any 30ECTS study units, and a Postgraduate Diploma after successfully completing 60ECTS study units. These certifications will proceed to open pathways to an MSc in Insurance and Risk Management Block Governance, Risk Management and Compliance.
